Groundhogs are interesting, cute and fun to watch.  Although they look completely harmless, they can carry the rabies virus. If bitten by a groundhog consult your doctor immediately.

The groundhog tunnels extensively. In fact, its believed the animal is constantly improving and adding on to its tunnel network.

Other than the rabies concern, many more problems occur when playing host to one or more of these pests on your property.  They can chew through water lines, power lines, landscape lighting and irrigation systems. Groundhogs, or Woodchucks, can further undermine and weaken house foundations, driveways and roads.

Don't let these tunnel diggers under your house, porch or garage. The extensive tunnel clusters they dig are four to five levels deep and as wide as the animal decides to make it. 

In addition to your house they can tunnel under swimming pools, hot tubs, patios, porches, decks, walkways, tunnel in and through out Boulder Walls and many other things that you would not want to sink into the earth.

If you notice one of these critters on your property, have it removed immediately.  Whatever the cost is for the wildlife removal, it will be far cheaper than calling an electrician, the water utility company, a professional landscaper and a host of other professionals that have been called on in the past to repair groundhog damage. 

Typically you will see the groundhog a few hours before sunset or a few hours after daybreak. You may not even see them at all.

If you see a hole 5 to 6 inches in diameter with recently excavated dirt in front of the hole and notice the tops of certain plants and flowers in your garden are missing - you most likely have a groundhog on your property.
